Buenos Aires walking days and an El Calafate glacier trip put very different loads on a phone, whether it's a short holiday or a longer family vacation. A virtual sim card installed on a compatible phone keeps addresses, transfer bookings and messages within reach, running on 4G/LTE where available; 5G is not confirmed for these plans.

Before you fly to Buenos Aires, save the airport named on your ticket and the full address where you'll stay. Send both to whoever is meeting you and fix a precise pickup point. A city name by itself is not enough to arrange the first transfer.
The city tourism office publishes an interactive map that plans journeys by transport type and walking distance. Use it to plot the way from your hotel to an appointment or a loop around the Obelisco. Public transport needs a rechargeable SUBE card, so a mobile data connection is not itself a ticket.

El Calafate is the usual base for Perito Moreno Glacier inside Los Glaciares National Park. Argentina's tourism office puts the glacier about 80 km from town along RP 11, so check whether your excursion includes transport and exactly where it collects you.
Use your connection while in town to pull up your voucher and confirm the return plan with the excursion operator. A glacier walk, boat trip and guided activity can each have a different meeting point, so save the details for the one you booked.
Keep maps and tickets offline for the day outside town. A larger allowance won't fix weak reception or the quality of the data service in remote terrain, and a long transfer suits downloaded video better than streaming.
